Get Your Fingers Moving!

A very special day dedicated to all things acoustic with awesome player and tutor, Tristan Seume.

Join Tristan on SATURDAY 22nd FEBRUARY, when he will be focussing on developing fingerstyle techniques and open tunings, arranging well-known songs for one guitar (two hands!) and generally getting under the skin of the acoustic guitar to discover the beauty within.

Acoustic Fingerstyle Masterclass:

In this day-long workshop we’ll look at approaches to arranging songs for solo fingerstyle guitar, by distilling a song into its constituent parts, using techniques for incorporating melody with harmony, harnessing the power of altered tuning and more.

As takeaway projects, we’ll dive into a couple of popular song arrangements (to be announced), for which tab will be made available 2 WEEKS in advance so you can get a jump on the day ahead.

This workshop is aimed at players of an intermediate level and above; a general grasp of fingerpicking and barre chord knowledge is highly recommended for maximum benefit. That said, if you consider yourself more of a beginner, but you’re up for the challenge, you will of course, be fully included.

Tristan’s Biography:

Amongst the UK’s leading acoustic guitarists, Tristan Seume has toured all over Europe both as a soloist and sought-after accompanist, with session credits on stage and in the studio including Andrea Corr, Eddi Reader, Port Isaac’s Fishermen’s Friends, Irish trad music legends, Altan, and award-winning folk singer, Jackie Oates.
He’s released three solo albums, ‘You Just Know’, ‘Middle Child’ (“essential for fans of acoustic guitar”, Guitarist Magazine) and ‘Handpicked from the Eighties’, a collection of nostalgic favourites reimagined for solo guitar, its included rendition of Heart’s, ‘These Dreams’, gaining praise from Nancy Wilson, herself.

An enthusiastic educator, Tristan’s experience includes countless contributions to Guitarist, Guitar Techniques, Total Guitar, and Acoustic magazines. He’s led workshops at many events around the UK and France. He has also worked as a tutor at ACM, BIMM and currently at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) in London.

Tristan is a good friend of Guitar Breaks, he is one of THE great acoustic guitar players, a brilliant teacher and an all-round lovely chap!
