Topics covered during this workshop will include: Recommended practise approaches and how to get the most from your practise time – Developing your identity within your playing – Absorbing the styles you like to get closer to the player you want to be – Focusing on strong feel and groove to develop your individual playing and ability to lock in with others – Developing your tone – Checking your technique – Suggested listening.

PLUS! There will be plenty of time to respond to your questions and help you develop as a player during the group workshops and 1-2-1 sessions.

 

 

Paul Turner:

Paul joined Jamiroquai in 2005 and has co-written, recorded and performed live with the band ever since. As well as Jamiroquai, he is known for playing with Annie Lennox over a number of years. He formed the soulful jazz/ funk band Trioniq with Rob and Iwan Van Hetten.

Other recording and live credits include Tina Turner, Bryan Ferry, Tom Jones, Seal and George Michael, Omar, Lamont Dozier and Mica Paris, Brother Strut, Down to the Bone and Jeff Lorber.

Paul is a good friend to Guitar Breaks and we can’t wait for a seriously funky weekend!

A two day workshop filled with learning and playing with Jamiroquai bass legend: Paul Turner

We are based in our own custom built studio, with fellow bass players.

  • Workshop starts at 10am both days
  • We spend the morning getting under the skin of the key skills needed to start building your bass playing skills
  • Break for a packed lunch (**bring your own) at 1.00pm
  • Back at it by 2.00pm
  • We will spend the afternoon developing the themes from the morning session and putting all you have learned into practice.
  • Saturday will finish around 5.00pm
  • We will go for dinner, and perhaps a half of shandy, in the evening.
  • Sunday will finish at 4.00pm so guests can get home in good time

  • Snug is only 10 minutes from the A3 and 10 minutes from the M3 motorways. So pretty convenient if you are planning to drive, plus there is parking on site!
  • If you are looking to take the train, aim for either Aldershot, Guildford or Farnham stations. All are within a 10 minute taxi ride.
  • Closest airports are Gatwick and Heathrow. Gatwick has a direct train to North Camp station, which is a 5 minute taxi ride from the studio.
